How it works
Cabin air is why this product works so well
Cruising cabin air is genuinely harsh. Relative humidity typically sits between 10 and 20 percent — drier than most deserts — because the air is drawn from outside at altitude where there is almost no moisture. That dries the skin, the eyes and the airways, and combined with a pressurised cabin equivalent to six to eight thousand feet of altitude, it produces the specific stale, tight, slightly grubby feeling passengers describe after a few hours in the air.
A refreshing towelette works against exactly that. The formulation is mild and humectant-led — glycerin, panthenol, aloe — so it deposits moisture rather than stripping it, at a pH matched to skin. A light scent provides the perceptual reset that makes the product feel effective: this is one case where the sensory experience is a functional part of the product, because the passenger is judging how refreshed they feel rather than how clean they measurably are.
Three aviation-specific constraints shape the spec. Weight: everything loaded onto an aircraft costs fuel for the whole flight, so sachet material and saturation are optimised rather than maximised. Scent policy: fragrance in a sealed cabin affects everyone, not just the user, so levels are set low and blends avoided that clash with the carrier’s own cabin scent programme. And the sachet has to open easily with one hand, by a passenger of any age, without spraying the seat neighbour — which sounds trivial and is the most common complaint about the format.
At a glance
✓Humectant-led formulation for 10–20% cabin humidity
✓Low fragrance level set for a sealed cabin
✓Weight-optimised sachet and saturation
✓One-handed, no-spray opening
✓Full-colour print both sides in your livery
Cabin humidity is drier than most deserts. A towelette that strips moisture makes the problem worse.
Applications
Where refreshing towelettes are used
The most widely distributed single item in cabin service, and the one passengers most reliably associate with the carrier that gave it to them.
01
Pre-meal service
Distributed with the meal tray across all cabin classes — the highest-volume single use, and a service moment on every flight.
02
Boarding & welcome
Handed out at the door or at the seat as a welcome gesture, especially on premium and long-haul routes.
03
Pre-landing refresh
Offered before descent so passengers arrive feeling presentable — the moment of highest perceived value on a long flight.
04
Amenity kit inclusion
A standard component of economy and premium amenity kits, co-packed with eye masks, socks and dental kits.
05
Rail, coach & ferry
The same product and logic on long-distance ground and sea transport, where the branding opportunity is identical.
06
Hotel & hospitality welcome
Check-in and turndown service, and in-room amenity trays — a direct crossover market from the same production line.

FAQ
Refreshing towelettes FAQ
Why do airlines hand out refreshing towelettes?
Because cabin air is extremely dry — typically 10 to 20 percent relative humidity, drier than most deserts — and passengers feel stale and grubby within a few hours. A humectant-led towelette provides a genuine refresh, and it doubles as one of the most cost-effective branded touchpoints available in the cabin.
What scent should an airline towelette use?
Something light. Fragrance in a sealed cabin is shared by everyone, not just the user, so levels should be low and the blend should not fight the carrier’s existing cabin scent programme. Lemon and green tea are the reliable defaults; lavender suits pre-landing and rest-oriented service; unscented is worth stocking for allergy-sensitive routes.
Does packaging weight really matter on wipes?
Yes, more than most suppliers acknowledge. Everything loaded onto an aircraft is carried for the entire flight and costs fuel. Across a widebody fleet operating daily, a fraction of a gram per sachet becomes a measurable annual figure — which is why we quote sachet weight per thousand units alongside price.
Can towelettes be printed in our airline livery?
Yes — full colour on both sides of the sachet, including logo, cabin-class variants, safety or ingredient text and any language requirements. Artwork proofs come back within 48 hours, and we run different liveries or cabin classes from the same formulation.
Are biodegradable or compostable options available?
Yes, on both the substrate and the sachet. A viscose or bamboo substrate biodegrades far faster than polyester, and certified compostable sachet film is available. Given that cabin waste volumes are highly visible in sustainability reporting, it is worth pricing at the outset rather than as a later switch.
What is the difference between a refreshing towelette and a hot towel?
Service level and format. A towelette is a single-use sealed sachet distributed at scale in any cabin. A hot towel is a larger rolled towel warmed before service and presented with tongs — a premium ritual with more labour and galley equipment attached. Many carriers use hot towels forward and towelettes throughout.
