Natural & Organic Pet Wipes

We manufacture private label natural and organic pet wipes on genuinely plant-based, compostable substrates — with certified botanicals where you need certification, and honest advice about where “natural” can and cannot be claimed. Made in the USA.

How it works

Natural is a claim; plant-based substrate is a fact

“Natural” is essentially unregulated in pet care, which means it carries little weight with informed buyers and increasing risk with regulators. The claims that do mean something are specific and verifiable: a 100% plant-based substrate with the fibre composition disclosed, certified organic botanical inputs with valid certificates, and a compostability standard such as EN 13432. We build products around those rather than around the word.

The substrate is where the real environmental substance is. Most pet wipes are nonwoven fabric containing polyester or polypropylene — plastic — which is what gives wet strength. Ours use viscose, lyocell, bamboo or cotton with no plastic fibre, achieving wet strength through fibre selection and hydro-entanglement density instead. Pet wipes are used in volume and disposed of casually, often outdoors, which makes this a more meaningful change here than in many categories.

Two cautions specific to natural pet products. First, natural does not mean gentle. Essential oils and botanical extracts are among the more common contact sensitisers in veterinary dermatology, and several — tea tree, citrus, pine — are genuinely unsafe for cats, which cannot metabolise them. A natural product marketed for cats must be built for cats. Second, organic certification for a wet wipe runs into the water problem: water cannot be certified organic and a wipe is over 95% water, so the scheme and its calculation method must be chosen before formulation, not after.

Applications

Where natural pet wipes sell

A premium price point with buyers who cross-reference claims — which favours specific, documented ones.

01

Eco-positioned pet brands

Where sustainability is the brand rather than a feature, and the substrate composition will be published and scrutinised.

02

Natural & independent pet retail

Retailers in this channel check claims before listing, so documentation is the entry requirement rather than a bonus.

03

Clean-label DTC pet brands

Direct-to-consumer brands where the ingredient list is marketing copy and vague claims get called out publicly.

04

Outdoor & adventure dog

Hiking and camping with dogs, where disposal options are poor and a compostable wipe genuinely matters rather than merely signalling.

05

Cat-focused natural ranges

An under-served niche, because doing natural safely for cats requires omitting the essential oils most natural brands lead with.

06

Subscription & refill models

Plastic-free outer packs and refills, where the whole-system footprint is the proposition.

A compostable wipe in a conventional plastic canister is the criticism this positioning attracts most, and it is a fair one. If the environmental claim is the brand, budget the plastic-free outer from the start.

Claim the specifics, not the adjective

We would rather help you claim “100% plant-based substrate, certified compostable to EN 13432, fibre composition disclosed” than “natural”. The first is defensible, differentiating and hard to copy without reformulating. The second is what everyone else on the shelf already says.

FAQ

Natural pet wipes FAQ

Are natural pet wipes gentler than regular ones?

Not automatically, and this is worth being clear about. Essential oils and botanical extracts are among the more common contact sensitisers in veterinary dermatology, so a heavily botanical natural product can be harsher on an atopic dog than a plain fragrance-free one. If gentleness is the goal, our hypoallergenic wipes are the better product.

Are natural pet wipes safe for cats?

Only if formulated for cats specifically. Many natural pet products lead with tea tree, citrus or pine oils, and cats lack the metabolic pathway to process them safely. Our cat-safe variant omits essential oils entirely — which is why a genuinely cat-safe natural wipe is a rarer product than it should be.

Are regular pet wipes made of plastic?

Mostly, yes. Conventional wipes are nonwoven fabric with significant polyester or polypropylene content, which provides wet strength. Our natural range uses viscose, lyocell, bamboo or cotton with no plastic fibre, achieving wet strength through fibre choice and hydro-entanglement density instead.

Can a pet wipe be certified organic?

Partially, and the detail matters. Water cannot be certified organic and a wipe is over 95% water, so the percentage-organic figure depends entirely on how the scheme treats water — USDA NOP and COSMOS calculate it differently. The scheme has to be chosen before formulation, because it also governs permitted preservatives and surfactants.

What is the difference between natural and biodegradable?

Natural is an unregulated marketing term about ingredients. Biodegradable and compostable are claims about what happens to the product afterwards, and compostable is testable against standards like EN 13432. A wipe can be one without the other, which is why we prefer to state the substrate composition and the certification rather than the adjective.

Why is the shelf life shorter on natural and organic wipes?

Because certification schemes restrict which preservatives are permitted. With a narrower preservative palette, microbiological control depends more on process and packaging and the validated window is shorter — 18–24 months rather than 30. It is a consequence of the certification, not a quality compromise.
