Dog & Cat Cleaning Wipes

We manufacture private label dog and cat cleaning wipes formulated to pet skin pH — around 7.0 to 7.5, not the 5.5 a human wipe is built for. The everyday between-baths product, made in the USA for pet brands, grooming lines, clinics and retailers.

How it works

A human wipe is the wrong pH for a dog

This is the single most important fact in pet wipe formulation and the one most often ignored. Human skin sits at roughly pH 5.5, protected by an acidic mantle. Canine skin is close to neutral — around pH 7.0 to 7.5, and feline skin is similar. Using an acidic human product on a dog repeatedly disrupts that mantle and can contribute to the itching, flaking and secondary infection that owners then treat as an allergy. A pet wipe that is simply a rebranded baby wipe is a genuinely worse product, not merely a lazy one.

Our everyday formulation is buffered to pet-appropriate pH with a very low non-ionic surfactant load, plus humectants and mild conditioners to leave the coat soft rather than stripped. There is also a critical exclusion list specific to animals: no xylitol (highly toxic to dogs), no alcohol, and careful control of essential oils — cats lack the hepatic glucuronidation pathway needed to metabolise many of them, so tea tree, citrus and pine oils that are unremarkable in a human product can be dangerous. Anything labelled as safe for cats has to be formulated for cats, not just marketed to them.

Practically, this is the highest-frequency SKU in a pet range: muddy paws, post-park dust, dander before visitors, a quick face wipe after eating. The substrate needs enough texture and wet strength to work through fur without shredding, and enough size to cover a body. Pets also lick themselves, so every ingredient must be safe on ingestion at the residual levels left on a coat — a constraint that does not exist in human personal care at all.

At a glance

Buffered to canine/feline pH 7.0–7.5

Xylitol-free and alcohol-free

Essential oils controlled for feline safety

Safe at residual levels if the animal licks its coat

Textured, high-wet-strength substrate for fur

Not a human wipe rebranded. pH, exclusion list and ingestion safety are all different.

Applications

Where pet cleaning wipes sell

The volume SKU of any pet wipe range — bought on habit rather than on occasion, which makes repeat rate the whole economics.

01

Between-bath maintenance

Dogs should not be bathed as often as they get dirty. This is the product that fills the gap, and the reason the category exists at all.

02

Post-walk & post-park

Body, belly and legs after wet or muddy walks — the highest-frequency single use, especially for owners with hard floors or light carpets.

03

Face, muzzle & folds

Food residue and moisture in facial folds, particularly for brachycephalic breeds where fold dermatitis is a constant management task.

04

Dander control for allergic owners

Wiping the coat to reduce airborne dander is a real, well-known tactic among allergic owners, and a marketing angle competitors underuse.

05

Grooming salons & day care

Bulk canisters for between-appointment tidying and pre-groom prep — institutional volume with predictable reorders.

06

Veterinary waiting rooms & clinics

Quick cleaning before examination, and retailed at the desk on clinician recommendation.

Canister lid quality is the top complaint driver in pet wipes. Owners open them one-handed with a wet dog in the other, and a lid that cracks or stops sealing dries the whole canister out. Specify the lid, not just the label.

Get the pH right and you already beat half the shelf

A surprising number of pet wipes on the market are human formulations with a paw printed on the pack. Formulating to pet pH, excluding xylitol and controlling essential oils for feline safety costs almost nothing extra and gives you a claim that is both true and checkable. We build it that way as standard and have the veterinary review to support the language.

FAQ

Dog and cat cleaning wipes FAQ

Can I use baby wipes on my dog?

Not ideally, and the reason is pH. Human skin is acidic at around 5.5 and baby wipes are formulated for that; canine and feline skin is close to neutral at 7.0–7.5. Repeatedly applying an acidic product disrupts the animal’s skin barrier and can contribute to itching and secondary infection. Some baby wipes also contain ingredients that are not safe for an animal that licks its own coat.

Are dog wipes safe if my dog licks itself afterwards?

They must be, and that is a design constraint human wipes do not have. Every ingredient in our pet formulations is selected to be safe at the residual level left on a coat after the wipe dries. It is also why xylitol — which is highly toxic to dogs — is excluded absolutely, and why we control essential oils rather than adding them freely.

Are these wipes safe for cats as well as dogs?

Our formulations are, because they are built for it. Cats lack the liver enzyme pathway needed to metabolise many essential oils, so tea tree, citrus and pine oils that are harmless in a dog or human product can be dangerous for them. A wipe marketed as cat-safe should be formulated with that in mind, not simply relabelled.

How often can pet cleaning wipes be used?

Daily, which is the point of the product. Dogs get dirty far more often than they should be bathed — frequent shampooing strips the coat and skin. A pH-appropriate wipe with a low surfactant load is designed for high-frequency use between baths.

What is the difference between cleaning wipes and grooming wipes?

Cleaning wipes prioritise removing dirt, dander and debris. Grooming wipes add conditioning agents — aloe, oatmeal, vitamin E — aimed at coat softness, shine and detangling. Many owners buy both; a range that explains the distinction sells more of each than a range that blurs them.

Can you make wipes for large breeds?

Yes. We run an 8″ × 10″ large-breed size with higher saturation, which is a genuine differentiator — owners of big dogs consistently complain that standard wipes are too small and they end up using four. It is one of the easiest ways to earn a premium in this category.
