Glass & Windshield Wipes

We manufacture private label car glass wipes on a fast-flashing, ammonia-free blend that is safe on aftermarket tint film — the single most common way a glass cleaner destroys a customer’s car. Formulated to evaporate before it can streak, on a low-lint substrate that does not leave its own fibres behind.

How it works

How to clean the inside of a windshield without streaks

The film on the inside of a windshield is not ordinary dirt, which is why ordinary cleaning does not remove it and why it always comes back. It is plasticiser outgassing: the same additives that keep the dashboard soft slowly volatilise in heat and condense on the coldest, largest surface in the cabin. The result is an oily haze that scatters oncoming headlights at night. Because it is an oil film rather than a dust film, wiping it with a damp cloth simply spreads it into the streaks people then blame on the product.

Two things fix it. The first is a solvent fraction that dissolves the oil rather than emulsifying it, and that flashes off fast enough not to be redistributed — our blend is formulated to clear in eight to fifteen seconds on warm glass. The second is technique, and it is the part nobody explains: a windshield needs two passes, a wet one to dissolve and a dry one to buff, and the inside of the glass should be worked horizontally while the outside is worked vertically, so that when a streak does appear you know instantly which face it is on.

The formulation is deliberately ammonia-free. Ammonia is what makes household glass cleaner cheap and fast, and it is also what yellows, bubbles and delaminates aftermarket window tint, degrades the polycarbonate on headlight lenses, and attacks the rubber of the windshield seal. A tint job costs several hundred dollars; there is no version of this trade that is worth making. The substrate is a 50 gsm low-lint hydroentangled sheet — on glass, lint is as visible as streak, and it is where cheap glass wipes actually fail. For interior plastics that sit directly under the windshield, our dashboard & trim wipes are silicone-free for the same outgassing reason.

At a glance

Ammonia-free — safe on aftermarket tint film and rubber seals

Flash-off in 8–15 seconds, so it cannot redistribute into streaks

Dissolves plasticiser haze rather than emulsifying it

50 gsm low-lint hydroentangled substrate

Anti-fog and rain-repellent variants available

Not for: hot glass in direct sun — it will flash before it can be worked, on any brand.

Applications

Where car glass wipes are used

Glass is the one interior surface with a safety argument attached, which changes who buys the wipe and why.

01

Windshield interior haze

The core job. Night-time glare from plasticiser film is a genuine visibility issue, and it is the reason this SKU sells in winter as well as summer.

02

Mirrors and rear glass

Small, awkward surfaces where a sachet is more practical than a bottle and a cloth, particularly for the interior mirror.

03

Forecourts and fuel stations

The classic point-of-sale wipe. Single sachets at the pump replace the squeegee bucket and carry the retailer’s brand into the car.

04

Headlight lens maintenance

Ammonia-free chemistry matters twice over here, because headlight lenses are polycarbonate and ammonia crazes them.

05

Fleet safety programmes

Operators who audit vehicle condition treat interior glass clarity as a checklist item rather than a cosmetic one.

06

Tinted and wrapped vehicles

The market where an ammonia-free claim is not a nice-to-have — installers hand these out with the warranty documentation.

Glass wipe specifications

The solvent balance is the adjustable part of this product: faster flash for warm climates, slower for cold, and an anti-fog surfactant if the market wants it.

Comparison

Glass wipes vs. the rest of the automotive range

Glass is the one surface where fast evaporation is the specification. Everything else in the range is formulated to stay wet long enough to work.

Private Label & OEM

The wipe that belongs at the point of sale

Glass wipes have the shortest path from brand to hand of anything we make: a single printed sachet at a fuel pump, a service desk or a tint installer costs cents and is used within minutes, in the car, with your name on it. Because the formulation carries no regulated claim, artwork is the only long-lead item. Six to eight weeks from brief to pallets.

Solvent balance tuned to your climate — faster or slower flash

Anti-fog and rain-repellent variants from the same family

Custom sachet artwork including a tint-safe callout

Co-packing with fuel, service or tint-warranty literature

FAQ

Car glass wipes FAQ

Why does the inside of my windshield get hazy again so quickly?

Because the source is inside the car. The haze is plasticiser vapour off-gassing from the dashboard and trim, which condenses on the glass — it is a continuous process, accelerated by heat, and it is worst in a new car with fresh interior plastics. Cleaning removes the film but not the source, so the interval is measured in weeks. Using a silicone-free interior and dash product slows it down noticeably, because silicone dressings add to the load.

Are glass wipes safe on tinted windows?

Ours are, because they contain no ammonia. That is the whole question with tint: ammonia attacks the adhesive and the dye layer of aftermarket film, and the result is yellowing, bubbling and eventually delamination. Most household glass cleaners are ammonia-based. If a product does not state ammonia-free on the pack, assume it is not, and do not use it on film.

How do you clean car windows without streaks?

Use a product that flashes off fast, work one window at a time, and do two passes — a wet pass to dissolve and a dry buff to clear. Never work in direct sun on hot glass, because the cleaner evaporates before you have spread it. Clean the inside horizontally and the outside vertically, so a remaining streak tells you which side it is on. And roll the window down two inches to reach the top edge, which is where most of the missed film sits.

Can these wipes be used on headlights and instrument covers?

On headlight lenses yes — the ammonia-free formulation is safe on polycarbonate, and that is exactly where ammonia crazes the surface. On instrument covers and infotainment displays, no. Those carry an oleophobic coating that any alcohol-bearing product will eventually strip; use our screen & infotainment wipes instead.

Do you make an anti-fog glass wipe?

Yes. The anti-fog variant leaves a thin hydrophilic surfactant layer that makes condensation spread into a transparent sheet rather than beading into a fog. It is a genuinely seasonal SKU in cold and humid markets, and it is a strong second product in the same artwork family. Note it trades a little streak-resistance for the effect, which is why we keep it separate from the standard wipe.

What causes lint on glass after wiping?

The substrate, almost always. Cellulose-heavy and airlaid sheets shed fibres that are invisible on plastic and obvious on glass. We use a 50 gsm hydroentangled nonwoven for this SKU specifically because the fibres are mechanically entangled rather than bonded, so there is nothing loose to leave behind. If a customer reports lint, the substrate spec is the first thing to check, not the fluid.
