Fragrance-Free Baby Wipes
We manufacture private label fragrance-free baby wipes with no fragrance and no masking fragrance — a distinction most “unscented” products on the shelf quietly avoid. Made in the USA for baby brands that would rather explain the difference than exploit it.

How it works
“Unscented” and “fragrance-free” are not the same thing
This is the most useful thing a baby brand can explain to its customers, and almost nobody does. Unscented means the product does not smell of anything. That is often achieved by adding a masking fragrance — a fragrance compound whose job is to neutralise the base odour of the raw materials. So an unscented wipe can, and frequently does, contain fragrance. Fragrance-free means no fragrance compound has been added for any purpose, including masking. On an INCI list, the tell is the presence of “Parfum” or “Fragrance” on a product marketed as unscented.
That difference matters because fragrance is consistently among the most common causes of contact allergy in personal care, and infant skin — thinner, still-maturing barrier, higher surface-area exposure — is where the margin for error is smallest. A parent avoiding fragrance for a reactive baby is not served by a masked product.
Achieving genuine fragrance-free is a raw-material problem rather than a formulation one. Without a masking agent, every base ingredient’s own odour is exposed, so we select low-odour grades of each component, use a low-odour substrate, and manage the pack’s headspace so nothing develops a stale note over shelf life. It costs more than masking and it is the entire product. We publish the full INCI with no parfum entry so the claim is verifiable rather than asserted.
At a glance
✓No fragrance compound of any kind, including masking
✓Full INCI disclosure with no “Parfum” entry
✓Low-odour raw-material grades throughout
✓Low-odour substrate selection

We can also supply a genuinely unscented masked version — but it will be labelled accurately as such.
Applications
Where fragrance-free baby wipes sell
The fastest-growing claim in baby care, driven almost entirely by parents who have read about fragrance allergy.
01
Reactive & allergy-aware families
Parents who have already had a reaction to something and are now reading every panel. They will check for a parfum entry, and they will notice if it is absent.
02
Newborn & first-months care
Fragrance-free is close to a default expectation for newborn products, and the claim is often the reason a pack is picked up.
03
Clean-label & natural retail
The claim sits naturally alongside plant-based and organic positioning, and is easier to substantiate than either.
04
Paediatric & dermatology channels
Clinicians recommending fragrance-free specifically, where an accurate distinction from “unscented” earns professional credibility.
05
Face & hand wipes for children
Parents apply the fragrance-free rule most strictly to anything used near the face and mouth.
06
Adult fragrance-free crossover
A real adjacent market — fragrance-sensitive adults buy baby fragrance-free wipes for themselves, which a resized SKU can capture directly.

Put the distinction on the pack, not just in the FAQ. A short line explaining that fragrance-free means no masking fragrance either is the single most persuasive piece of copy available in this category, precisely because competitors cannot honestly copy it.

Private Label & OEM
A claim your competitors cannot honestly copy
Most brands marketing unscented wipes are using a masking fragrance, because it is cheaper and easier than sourcing low-odour grades of every component. If you build a genuinely fragrance-free product and explain the difference on pack, you have a differentiator that competitors can only match by reformulating. We source, formulate and disclose accordingly.
✓No masking fragrance — verified through the raw material chain
✓Full INCI published so the claim is checkable
✓Low-odour substrate and headspace management
✓Custom sachet, softpack, tub and refill formats
✓Substrate fibre, weight and emboss to your spec
✓Full ingredient disclosure for clean-label claims
FAQ
Fragrance-free baby wipes FAQ
What is the difference between fragrance-free and unscented baby wipes?
Unscented means the product has no noticeable smell — which is often achieved by adding a masking fragrance to cover the natural odour of the raw materials. Fragrance-free means no fragrance compound has been added for any purpose, masking included. The giveaway on a label is a “Parfum” or “Fragrance” entry on a product marketed as unscented.
Why avoid fragrance in baby wipes?
Fragrance is consistently among the most common causes of contact allergy in personal care products, and infant skin is the least forgiving place to find out. The stratum corneum is around 30% thinner than an adult’s, the barrier is still maturing, and the surface-area-to-volume ratio makes any exposure proportionally larger.
Is a fragrance-free wipe harder to make?
Yes, and that is why masking is so common. Without a masking agent, the natural odour of every raw material is exposed, so each component has to be sourced in a low-odour grade, the substrate has to be selected the same way, and the pack headspace has to be managed so nothing turns stale over shelf life. It costs more per unit than adding a masking fragrance.
How can a customer verify a fragrance-free claim?
By reading the INCI list for a Parfum or Fragrance entry — which is exactly why we publish the full list. A brand confident in the claim should make it easy to check; a brand that buries the panel is usually hiding a masking agent.
Can you supply an unscented version as well?
Yes, but we will label it accurately as unscented rather than fragrance-free, and the masking agent will appear on the INCI. Plenty of markets and price points suit an unscented product; conflating the two terms on pack is where brands get into trouble.
Does fragrance-free mean the wipe is also hypoallergenic?
No — they are separate claims with separate substantiation. Removing fragrance eliminates one major allergen class, but a hypoallergenic claim requires screening against the wider set of contact allergens plus HRIPT patch testing. Our sensitive skin baby wipes carry both.
