How it works
An oxidiser that leaves nothing behind
Hydrogen peroxide kills by generating reactive oxygen species — principally the hydroxyl radical, one of the most aggressive oxidising agents in biology. Those radicals attack lipids, proteins and DNA simultaneously, which gives peroxide a broad spectrum and, like iodine, no realistic resistance pathway. What makes it distinctive as a surface disinfectant is what happens next: hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water and oxygen. There is no quaternary ammonium film, no hypochlorite residue, no need to rinse a surface that a patient or a child is about to touch.
Plain hydrogen peroxide is a slow disinfectant, so commercial wipes use accelerated hydrogen peroxide chemistry — surfactants, chelating agents and solvents that raise the radical yield and cut contact time from tens of minutes to one to five. At 0.5% AHP you get a strong bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal claim including norovirus, the non-enveloped virus that defeats both alcohol and quats. Higher concentrations extend into sporicidal territory including C. difficile, though for dedicated outbreak response bleach is still the faster and cheaper answer.
Peroxide’s two practical limits: it is a mild bleaching agent, so it can lighten some fabrics and unsealed surfaces over repeated use, and it is less stable in storage than a quat, which is why our shelf life is 18–24 months rather than 36.

Do hydrogen peroxide wipes kill norovirus?
Yes — this is the main reason facilities stock them. Norovirus is a non-enveloped virus, which makes it resistant to alcohol and to quaternary ammonium disinfectants. Hydrogen peroxide works by oxidation rather than membrane disruption, so it is effective against it. The specific contact time depends on the registered claim for the formulation, typically one to five minutes.
What is accelerated hydrogen peroxide?
Plain hydrogen peroxide is a slow disinfectant. Accelerated hydrogen peroxide adds surfactants, chelating agents and solvents that increase the yield of reactive oxygen species, cutting the required contact time from tens of minutes down to one to five. Nearly every commercial peroxide wipe is an accelerated formulation, including ours.
Do hydrogen peroxide wipes leave a residue?
No. Hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water and oxygen, so once the surface dries there is no active film left behind. This is the property that makes it preferable to quaternary ammonium wipes on membrane keypads, touchscreens, bed rails and food-adjacent surfaces where residue accumulates or is undesirable.
Are hydrogen peroxide wipes effective against C. difficile?
At the upper end of the concentration range, sporicidal claims including C. difficile are achievable. That said, for dedicated outbreak response and terminal cleaning most facilities still use a 0.55% sodium hypochlorite product because it is faster and cheaper per surface. We make bleach wipes for exactly that role.
Will hydrogen peroxide wipes damage surfaces?
On sealed hard surfaces, compatibility is good. Hydrogen peroxide is a mild bleaching agent, so with repeated use it can lighten some fabrics, upholstery and unsealed wood. If your application involves textiles, tell us and we will steer you toward a quat or a lower-concentration formulation.
Why is the shelf life shorter than other disinfectant wipes?
Hydrogen peroxide is inherently less stable than quaternary ammonium chemistry — it decomposes slowly even in a sealed pack, which is the flip side of the property that makes it residue-free in use. We specify 18–24 months and validate potency at end of shelf life rather than only at release.
