What it is
The wipe defined by what it does not contain
Every other product in this range is a delivery system for a chemical. A dry sterile wipe is the opposite: a validated, sterile, low-particulate substrate with no active ingredient at all. That is a deliberate specification, not a gap. A wound-care clinician who moistens a sterile wipe with sterile saline at the bedside controls exactly what touches the wound bed — no preservative, no surfactant, no antiseptic that might be cytotoxic to granulating tissue. A compounding pharmacist wiping down a laminar flow hood wants a substrate that adds nothing to the environment it is cleaning.
Two properties do the work. Sterility: we gamma-irradiate to a sterility assurance level of 10⁻⁶, meaning a one-in-a-million probability of a single viable organism per unit, and seal each wipe individually so the sterile barrier survives until point of use. Low linting: a spunlace nonwoven in a polyester–cellulose or 100% polyester blend, hydro-entangled rather than adhesive-bonded, so fibres do not shed into a wound, a sterile field or a laminar airflow.
Because there is nothing in the wipe to degrade, dry sterile wipes have the longest shelf life of anything we make — 36 to 60 months. They also absorb far more than a pre-saturated wipe, which is why they double as the drying and blotting step after an antiseptic prep.

Cleanroom programmes normally need double-bagged packs so the outer bag can be stripped at the airlock. Specify the ISO class you are working to and we will match the packaging protocol.

What is the point of a wipe with no active ingredient?
Control. A clinician who moistens a sterile wipe with sterile saline decides exactly what contacts the wound — no preservative, no surfactant, no antiseptic that might be cytotoxic to healing tissue. In a cleanroom, the same logic applies to the environment: the wipe should remove contamination without adding chemistry or fibres of its own.
What does SAL 10⁻⁶ mean?
Sterility Assurance Level. SAL 10⁻⁶ means the probability of a single viable microorganism surviving on a given unit is no greater than one in a million. It is the standard for products intended to contact a sterile field or an open wound, and it is validated by dose-setting studies under ISO 11137 rather than by testing finished product alone.
Can dry sterile wipes be used with any solution?
Broadly yes — sterile saline, sterile water, wound cleansers and antiseptic solutions are all common. The substrate is chemically inert and low-extractable. The one thing to check is that your solution is itself sterile; moistening a sterile wipe with a non-sterile solution defeats the purpose.
Why are they lint-free, and how is that achieved?
A shed fibre in a wound is a foreign body and in a cleanroom it is a contamination event. We use hydro-entangled spunlace nonwoven — the fibres are locked together mechanically by high-pressure water jets rather than glued or thermally spot-bonded, so there is far less loose fibre available to shed. Class 100 grades are additionally laundered and particle-counted.
How long do dry sterile wipes last?
36 to 60 months, the longest shelf life of anything we make. There is no active ingredient to decay, so the limiting factor is the integrity of the sterile barrier rather than the product inside it. This makes them attractive for kits and emergency stock that turn over slowly.
Do you offer EO sterilisation instead of gamma?
Yes, on request. Gamma is our default because it is fast, penetrates sealed packaging and leaves no residue. Ethylene oxide is used where a substrate or a co-packed component is radiation-sensitive; it requires a validated aeration cycle and residual testing, which we build into the lot documentation.
