How it works

How much water a sealed floor can actually take

The most common way a hardwood or laminate floor is ruined is not chemical. It is water sitting in the seams. A sealed wood floor is protected on its face by a polyurethane film, but the joints between boards are not sealed, and neither are the edges of a laminate plank — laminate is a fibreboard core, which swells irreversibly when it gets wet and shows up as raised, chipped edges months later. A wet mop puts far more water down than the floor can evaporate before it wicks into those seams.

That is the whole design argument for a floor wipe over a mop and bucket. Saturation is fixed at the point of manufacture rather than decided by whoever is holding the mop, the sheet cannot be re-dunked into progressively dirtier water, and the residue-free neutral formulation dries in under a minute so nothing stands. It also removes the dilution error, which is the other common cause of dull floors — too much concentrate leaves a film that attracts dirt, and too little cleans nothing.

Two honest limits. First, a wipe is a maintenance clean, not a deep clean: heavy soil, grease near a cooker or a floor that has never been stripped need a wet process. Second, always dry-sweep or vacuum first — dragging grit across a floor finish is the fastest way to scratch it, and no formulation prevents that. Our neutral pH matters for the same reason it does elsewhere in the range: alkaline cleaners haze polyurethane finishes and acidic ones etch stone tile and unsealed grout, so a floor product used across mixed flooring has to be neutral.

Are floor wipes safe on hardwood and laminate?

On sealed floors, yes — and safer than a wet mop, because the amount of water is fixed at manufacture rather than decided by whoever is holding the mop. Water in the seams is what actually damages both: a wood floor is sealed on its face but not in the joints, and a laminate plank has a fibreboard core that swells irreversibly at the edges. A product that dries in under a minute never gets the chance to wick in.

How do you clean hardwood floors without damaging them?

Sweep or vacuum first, always — grit dragged across a finish scratches it, and that is mechanical damage no product prevents. Then use the least water that will do the job, with a neutral-pH cleaner, and let it dry fast. Avoid vinegar, which is acidic enough to dull polyurethane over time, and avoid oil soaps, which build a film that eventually has to be stripped. Wipe up standing water immediately rather than letting it evaporate.

Can one floor wipe do a whole room?

One sheet covers roughly 30 to 60 square feet at normal soiling, so a small kitchen or bathroom is one sheet and a living room is two or three. Packs claiming a whole house from a couple of sheets are assuming a floor that is already clean. We would rather size the pack correctly than have a customer push a grit-loaded sheet across their finish.

Do floor wipes leave a film or build up over time?

Ours do not — the formulation is residue-free with no wax and no polymer film. Build-up in floor care comes from two places: wax and polish products that are designed to leave a layer, and over-concentrated dilutions of ordinary cleaner. A pre-saturated wipe removes the second problem entirely, which is one of the quieter advantages of the format.

Will these work with a flat mop or Swiffer-style frame?

The 10″ × 16″ sheet is sized for standard flat-mop heads, and we will tool to a specific frame if you are selling one alongside. Many customers run both sizes: the mop sheet for whole rooms and a 10″ × 12″ hand sheet for spot cleaning and edges, from the same formulation and the same artwork family.

Can floor wipes replace mopping altogether?

For maintenance, in most homes, yes — and that is what most floor cleaning actually is. For a floor with heavy or greasy soil, or one that has never been stripped of old polish, you still need a wet process. We say so on the pack, because a customer who buys a wipe expecting it to rescue a neglected floor will blame the product rather than the situation.
