Glass & Mirror Wipes

We manufacture private label glass cleaning wipes for windows, mirrors and shower screens on a fast-flashing, ammonia-free blend and a low-lint substrate — because on glass, a stray fibre is as visible as a streak, and both come from the sheet more often than the fluid.

How it works

Why glass streaks — and what actually causes it

Streaking is almost never the cleaner failing to clean. It is the cleaner being redistributed before it evaporates. Glass is perfectly flat and perfectly reflective, so a film only a few microns thick scatters light and becomes visible in a way it never would on a matte surface. Three things put that film there: too much fluid for the area, a formulation that evaporates too slowly, and — most often — a surfactant or fragrance load that has nowhere to go once the water is gone.

So a good glass formulation is defined by what it leaves behind, which should be nothing. Ours is a fast-flash alcohol blend with only a trace of surfactant, no fragrance oils, no dye and no ammonia, clearing in eight to fifteen seconds. It is ammonia-free deliberately: ammonia is what makes household glass cleaner cheap and quick, and it also yellows window film, degrades the seals on double-glazed units over time and is a genuine irritant in an unventilated bathroom.

The other half is lint, and this is where cheap glass wipes actually fail. Cellulose-heavy and airlaid sheets shed fibres that are invisible on a countertop and obvious on a mirror. We use a 50 gsm hydroentangled nonwoven for this SKU specifically because the fibres are mechanically entangled rather than glued, so there is nothing loose to leave behind. Technique matters too, and it is worth printing on the pack: one wet pass, then a dry buff with a clean face, and never in direct sun — on hot glass the cleaner flashes before it can be spread, and that is a streak nobody can prevent.

At a glance

✓Ammonia-free — safe on window film and glazing seals

✓No fragrance oils or dye, the two most common residue sources

✓Flash-off in 8–15 seconds so it cannot be redistributed

✓50 gsm hydroentangled substrate — nothing loose to shed

✓Anti-fog variant available for bathroom mirrors

Not for: hot glass in direct sun, or coated electronic displays — those need our lens and screen formulations.

Applications

Where glass & mirror wipes are used

Glass is judged more harshly than any other household surface, because the failure is visible from across the room.

01

Bathroom mirrors

The highest-frequency glass job in a home, and the one where an anti-fog variant turns a cleaning product into a daily-use one.

02

Windows and internal glazing

Interior faces, glazed doors and partitions — where a wipe beats a spray and cloth because there is no overspray onto the frame or the floor.

03

Shower screens

Glass plus limescale, which is the one case where this product should be preceded by our bathroom wipes rather than used alone.

04

Hospitality and retail glazing

Display cases, entrance glass and back-bar mirrors, cleaned several times a day by staff with no training and no time.

05

Office partitions and meeting rooms

Fingerprints on glass are the most visible sign of a space not being maintained.

06

Retail private label

A reliable third SKU in a household range and one that photographs well, because the before-and-after is unambiguous.

The solvent balance is the adjustable part: faster flash for warm and humid markets, slower for cold ones, plus an anti-fog surfactant where the market wants it.

Household is a canister-led category — the pack lives on a counter or under a sink and is judged on the shelf, so tooling, label stock and lid feel matter as much as the fluid. We print full colour on canister sleeves, softpack film and sachets, and artwork proofs come back within 48 hours.

Comparison

Glass wipes vs. the rest of the household range

Glass is the only household surface where fast evaporation is the specification. Everything else in this range needs to stay wet long enough to work.

Private Label & OEM

A category judged entirely on the last two seconds

Nobody evaluates a glass wipe on how well it lifts soil; they evaluate it on whether the glass is clear when it dries. That makes this the SKU where substrate choice matters most and where cost-cutting shows up fastest — a cheaper sheet will pass every internal test and fail in the customer’s bathroom.

✓Solvent balance tuned to your market’s temperature and humidity

✓Anti-fog variant from the same artwork family

✓Low-lint substrate specified and verified, not assumed

✓Fragrance-free by default, with scented options on request

✓FOB, EXW and DDP terms — we handle the paperwork

FAQ

Glass & mirror wipes FAQ

Why do my windows streak even with a good cleaner?

Usually because there is too much product for the area, or it is being worked in direct sun. Glass is flat and reflective, so a film a few microns thick becomes visible where it would be invisible anywhere else. Use one wet pass, then buff dry with a clean face of the wipe before it evaporates on its own, and never work hot glass — the cleaner flashes before you have spread it, and no formulation prevents that.

Are ammonia-free glass wipes actually better?

Better for what they touch, yes. Ammonia is an excellent fast solvent and it is also what yellows window film, attacks the seals on double-glazed units over years, and irritates in an unventilated bathroom. An alcohol blend cleans glass just as well and does none of those things. The trade is cost, which is why most cheap household glass cleaners are still ammonia-based.

What causes lint on a mirror after wiping?

The substrate, almost always. Cellulose-heavy and airlaid sheets are bonded with adhesive or heat and shed fibres under friction; hydroentangled nonwovens are bonded by physically tangling the fibres with water jets, so there is nothing loose to release. We use a 50 gsm hydroentangled sheet on this SKU for that reason alone — it costs more and it is the difference between a good glass wipe and a returned one.

Can glass wipes be used on shower screens with limescale?

They will clean the glass but they will not remove the scale, because scale is a mineral deposit and needs an acid to dissolve it. The right order is our bathroom wipes first to take the scale off, then the glass wipe to finish clear. Selling the two together as a bathroom pair works well for exactly this reason.

Do you make an anti-fog mirror wipe?

Yes. It leaves a thin hydrophilic layer so condensation spreads into a transparent sheet instead of beading into fog, which turns a bathroom mirror wipe from an occasional cleaning product into a weekly-use one. It trades a little streak resistance for the effect, so we keep it as a separate SKU rather than blending it into the standard formulation.

Can I use these on a TV, laptop or phone screen?

No. Those carry an oleophobic coating that alcohol strips, after which every fingerprint smears instead of beading. It is a permanent change. For coated displays use a water-based, alcohol-free screen product; for eyewear and optics we make dedicated lens wipes with the same logic.
