Multi-Surface Cleaning Wipes
We manufacture private label multi surface wipes on a neutral-pH, non-ionic surfactant system — the formulation that cleans everyday household soil without being aggressive enough to damage any of the materials it will inevitably be used on. This is the workhorse SKU of a household range, and the one a customer cannot use wrongly.

How it works
What one all-purpose cleaner can and cannot safely touch
The point of an all-purpose product is that the user never has to think, so the formulation has to be defined by its worst case rather than its best one. That means neutral pH. Alkaline cleaners cut grease better but etch aluminium, dull natural stone and lift wax and lacquer; acidic cleaners remove scale better but attack marble, limestone, terrazzo and grout. A neutral non-ionic surfactant is a compromise on both, and it is the right compromise, because the alternative is a product that quietly ruins one surface in ten.
The honest boundary is worth stating plainly, because it is what a good pack says and a bad one omits. A multi-surface wipe belongs on sealed, hard, non-porous surfaces: laminate, sealed stone, glazed ceramic, painted and powder-coated metal, most plastics, vinyl and sealed wood. It does not belong on unsealed stone, unfinished or waxed wood, leather, or any electronic display — and it carries no disinfection claim, because cleaning and disinfecting are different actions with different actives. For a claim you need our surface disinfecting wipes.
The other half of the product is the sheet. A neutral surfactant has less chemical aggression to work with, so more of the job is mechanical: our 50 gsm embossed spunlace gives the wipe somewhere to hold what it lifts, which is what stops the streak you get when a saturated sheet starts redepositing its own soil. And because the folk remedy this product competes with is vinegar and water — 14,800 searches a month for that recipe alone — it is worth saying that vinegar is a dilute acid, is genuinely useful on limescale, and is genuinely destructive on stone, grout and waxed wood.
At a glance
✓Neutral pH 6.5–7.5 — no etching, no dulling, no wax stripping
✓Non-ionic surfactant system, no bleach and no ammonia
✓Rinse-free on non-food-contact surfaces
✓50 gsm embossed spunlace holds soil instead of spreading it
✓Fragrance-free option for scent-sensitive and institutional buyers
Not for: unsealed stone, waxed or unfinished wood, leather, or any disinfection claim.
Applications
Where multi-surface wipes are used
The highest-volume SKU in any household range, and the one that drives repeat purchase because it is the pack that empties first.
01
Everyday household cleaning
Counters, tables, light switches, door handles, appliance fronts — the quick pass that happens daily rather than the deep clean that happens monthly.
02
Offices and shared workspaces
Desks, meeting tables and touchpoints, where a neutral formulation is required because nobody supervises what it gets used on.
03
Schools and childcare
Bleach-free and ammonia-free matters here as a purchasing requirement, not as a preference.
04
Hospitality housekeeping
Room turnaround where one product per trolley is the operational goal and surface variety is high.
05
Retail private label
The anchor SKU of a supermarket or drugstore own-brand cleaning range, sold in canisters at a price point set by the national brand.
06
Subscription and refill brands
The format most often chosen as the entry product in a refill or subscription model, because usage is predictable.

Household is a canister-led category — the pack lives on a counter or under a sink and is judged on the shelf, so tooling, label stock and lid feel matter as much as the fluid. We print full colour on canister sleeves, softpack film and sachets, and artwork proofs come back within 48 hours.
Comparison
Multi-surface vs. the rest of the household range
Multi-surface is deliberately the general case. Every other product here exists because one surface has a failure mode a neutral cleaner cannot address.
| Product | Formula base | Safe on | Leaves | Substrate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-Surface Cleaning WipesThis page | Neutral-pH non-ionic surfactant | Sealed hard surfaces, plastic, laminate, painted trim | No film, no rinse needed | 50 gsm spunlace, embossed |
| Kitchen & Countertop Wipes | Degreasing alkaline surfactant, food-contact grade | Sealed stone, laminate, ceramic, steel | Grease cut; rinse on food-contact | 55 gsm embossed spunlace |

Private Label & OEM
The SKU that sets your price point
Multi-surface is where a household range wins or loses on cost per wipe, because it is the pack the customer compares directly against the national brand. We control substrate weight, saturation and count on our own line in New York, which means we can hit a shelf price by adjusting the right variable rather than by thinning the formula until it stops working.
✓Cost-per-wipe engineered by count, gsm and saturation together
✓Fragrance developed to brief, or fragrance- and dye-free
✓Plant-derived surfactant version for eco-positioned ranges
✓Canister, softpack, sachet and refill formats from one formulation
✓FOB, EXW and DDP terms — we handle the paperwork
FAQ
Multi-surface wipes FAQ
What surfaces can multi-surface wipes actually be used on?
Sealed, hard, non-porous surfaces: laminate, sealed stone, glazed ceramic, painted and powder-coated metal, most rigid plastics, vinyl and sealed wood. Not unsealed stone or grout, not waxed or bare wood, not leather, and not electronic displays — a display carries an oleophobic coating that surfactants gradually degrade. If a pack claims literally every surface, it is either wrong or so dilute it does not clean.
Is a vinegar-and-water spray as good as a multi-surface wipe?
For limescale, genuinely yes — dilute acetic acid is very good at dissolving mineral scale, and that is why the recipe persists. For grease and protein soil it is much worse than a surfactant, because acid does not emulsify oil. And it is actively damaging on marble, limestone, travertine, grout and waxed wood, all of which it etches. The honest summary is that vinegar is a good descaler being used as a general cleaner.
Do multi-surface wipes disinfect?
No, and we will not label them as if they do. A disinfection claim in the United States requires EPA registration with efficacy data behind it, plus a stated contact time on the label. Our surface disinfecting wipes are a separate registered product. Marketing a cleaning wipe with disinfection language is the single most common compliance failure we see in this category.
Why is neutral pH better than an alkaline cleaner?
It is not better at cleaning — alkaline cuts grease considerably faster. It is better at not causing damage, which for an all-purpose product is the more important property. Alkaline cleaners etch aluminium, dull polished stone and strip wax and lacquer over repeated use. Since nobody reads the label on the wipe they grab for a spill, the formulation has to survive the worst surface it will meet, not the best.
Can you make a plant-derived or eco-positioned version?
Yes. The surfactant system swaps to plant-derived alternatives and the substrate to a wood-pulp or lyocell blend with a compostability claim where the market supports it. Two cautions we give every customer: plant-derived surfactants are usually slightly less effective per gram, so saturation goes up, and a compostable substrate must not be marketed as flushable — they are entirely different tests.
What count should a household canister be?
Seventy-five is the volume sweet spot for a counter canister and thirty for a travel or car pack, but the real answer depends on the price you need to hit. Count, sheet size, gsm and saturation are four levers on the same cost, and moving the wrong one is what produces a wipe that is technically cheap and practically useless. We will model all four against your target shelf price.
