Dry Cleansing Cloths
We manufacture private label dry cleansing cloths on soft viscose spunlace — the format the user wets at the point of use, which removes the preservative system entirely, extends shelf life and cuts shipping weight by roughly two-thirds against a pre-moistened wipe.

How it works
Why some products ship dry and let the user add the water
A pre-moistened wipe is mostly water, and water is the source of nearly every problem in the category. It has to be preserved, because a wet nonwoven at room temperature is a growth medium — which means a preservative system, which means the ingredient consumers most often object to and the most common cause of contact irritation. It has to be sealed against evaporation, because a dried-out pack is a returned pack. And it has to be shipped, which means paying freight on water at roughly three times the weight of the substrate.
Shipping dry removes all three at once. There is no preservative because there is nothing to preserve, so the ingredient list is a substrate and nothing else — a real advantage in baby, sensitive-skin and clean-beauty positioning. Shelf life goes from around two years to effectively indefinite. And a case of dry cloths weighs about a third of the equivalent pre-moistened case, which matters most to exactly the brands that ship direct to consumers.
What you give up is convenience, and it should be stated rather than glossed over: the user needs water, so the format suits a bathroom, a nursery or a changing bag with a bottle far better than a car or a handbag. Our standard is 45 gsm viscose spunlace, chosen because viscose wets out almost instantly and drapes softly against skin — a polyester-rich blend is stronger but feels synthetic and takes longer to absorb, which users read as the cloth not working.
At a glance
✓No preservative system — the ingredient list is the substrate
✓Effectively indefinite shelf life, no dry-out failure mode
✓About one third the shipping weight of a pre-moistened equivalent
✓45 gsm viscose spunlace — wets out instantly, drapes on skin
✓Also supplied as the dry base for a customer’s own saturation line
Not for: on-the-go use without a water source — that is what a pre-moistened wipe is for.
Applications
Where dry cleansing cloths are used
A familiar format in personal and infant care, and an increasingly common one in direct-to-consumer brands doing the freight arithmetic.
01
Infant care at the changing table
Wet with warm water, used once, discarded — the routine many parents actively prefer to a preserved wipe.
02
Sensitive and reactive skin
Where the preservative in a conventional wipe is the specific thing being avoided.
03
Clean-beauty and minimal-ingredient brands
A product whose ingredient list is genuinely one line is a strong position, not a marketing one.
04
Facial cleansing routines
Used with the customer’s own cleanser rather than a formulation chosen for them.
05
Subscription and direct-to-consumer
The format where shipping weight has the largest effect on unit economics.
06
Institutional dry stock
Facilities that saturate in-house and want a consistent substrate rather than a finished wet product.

Softness and wet-out speed are what a user actually judges here, and both are set by fibre choice rather than by weight.

Packaging formats
- Single sachet1 wipe per sealed sachet
- Interfolded pack50–150 sheets, pop-up dispensing
- Flat pack25–100 sheets, poly-wrapped
- RollPerforated, 100–500 sheets
- Dispenser bucketCentre-feed roll for wet systems
- Bulk caseCustom count, master-carton labelled
Dry wipes are bought by the case far more often than by the pack, so the master carton, the count accuracy and the dispensing method usually matter more than the artwork. We supply interfolded, roll and centre-feed formats alongside retail packs, and we will match an existing dispenser if you send us one.
Comparison
Dry cleansing cloths vs. the rest of the dry wipe range
This is the softest substrate in the range and the only one specified primarily on how it feels against skin.

Private Label & OEM
A small category with an unusually clear story
Dry cleansing cloths are a modest search category — a few hundred a month — and a strong sales one, because the argument makes itself in two sentences: no preservative, and you are not paying freight on water. That makes it a good second SKU for a baby or sensitive-skin brand that already has a pre-moistened line, rather than a standalone launch.
✓Fibre chosen for wet-out speed and hand feel, not just cost
✓OEKO-TEX and FSC-certified viscose where the positioning needs it
✓Emboss pattern developed as a brand asset
✓Supplied as finished retail packs or as bulk dry stock
✓FOB, EXW and DDP terms — we handle the paperwork
FAQ
Dry cleansing cloths FAQ
Why would anyone buy a dry wipe instead of a wet one?
Three reasons that all trace back to the water. There is no preservative system, so the ingredient list is a substrate and nothing else — which matters for infant and sensitive skin. There is no dry-out failure and effectively no shelf-life limit. And a case weighs about a third of the pre-moistened equivalent, which changes the unit economics for anyone shipping direct to consumers. The trade is that you need a water source.
Are dry cloths better for sensitive skin?
Often, and for a specific reason rather than a general one: the most common irritants in a wet wipe are the preservative system and the fragrance, and a dry cloth has neither. What touches the skin is viscose and whatever water or cleanser the user chooses. That is a real advantage for reactive skin and eczema, and it is an honest claim in a way that most “gentle” wipe marketing is not.
What fibre should a dry cleansing cloth be?
Viscose, for anything touching skin. It wets out in under two seconds and drapes softly, where a polyester-rich blend feels synthetic and takes noticeably longer to absorb — which users interpret as the cloth not working rather than as a fibre property. Polyester earns its place where wet strength matters more than feel, which is patient care and industrial use rather than facial cleansing.
Can dry cloths be flushed?
No, and this is worth being firm about. Flushability is a specific technical standard measured by disintegration in water, and a spunlace nonwoven built for wet strength is close to the opposite of that by design. A dry cloth is not more flushable for being dry — it is a bin product. Any customer wanting a flushable claim needs a purpose-built dispersible substrate, which is a different product.
Can you supply the same cloth pre-moistened?
Yes, and many customers run both from one substrate: the dry cloth for the sensitive-skin and refill positioning, and a pre-moistened version of the same fabric for on-the-go. Keeping the substrate common across both keeps the hand feel identical, which matters more to repeat purchase than the packaging does.
Do you supply dry cloths in bulk for our own saturation line?
Yes — that is a substantial part of what we do, and it is documented separately on our dry wipes for wet systems page. We supply the substrate to your specification in rolls or interfolded stacks, matched to your chemistry and your dispensing equipment.
